These areas are definitely worth a trip- even if just for a day or a weekend- particularly if you enjoy being surrounded by history. I should add that George Washington has ties to Bath County (home of the Homestead Preserve). He was in command of the Virginia Militia in the 1750s and had a number of forts built there to protect the Shenandoah Valley. On this same trip I was also able to visit Stonewall Jackson's grave in Lexington, Va. Thanks for your comments.
